Two interviews already!!! Wow! This time, I'm here with Taylor Bennett, a newly published teen author of Porch Swing Girl. Thank you, also, for inviting me to be on your blog. I'm looking forward to it!! Red:   Ok, so, first things first, when did you realize you wanted to make writing a career? Was it a desire you had from the beginning or a desire that came later on?  Taylor:  I've always loved writing--the simple act of spinning a story, giving life to a character--but I never thought of it as something I could actual

14 Goals for Year 14

Image
14... I've officially been that age for four days now. - I'm currently on my beach trip... The sun has been seeping into my pores ever since I have gotten to the beach house, making me look pink ( of course, I've been wearing a big layer of sunscreen to cover my pale skin )! I love being able to spend time with family that live quite a while away. Snorkeling has also been an absolute blast these past couple days, and I've found some very pretty shells to add to my collection! Although, the water has been extremely clear, so I'm surprised I have found anything! - I'm often catching myself now thinking of me as a 13 year old. I have to then remind myself "No, Lyla, you're 14 now," and it's crazy! I'm still trying to get accustomed to my new age. Sorry, 14, I didn't mean to offend you. I thought that while I'm here explaining all of this to you, I would make 14 goals for 14. "No, Lyla, not 13 goals. 14." -  ~14 Go

Goodbye 13

So, tomorrow is the big day. I honestly feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the whole world to have my birthday on Star Wars day! If I wasn't a huge Star Wars fan, it wouldn't mean much, but I am a HUGE fan so...... #teamHan #teamKyloRey - 14.... It honestly shocks me. I mean, when I was 10 I would have never imagined myself as a 14 year old. It just felt so far away. But now, that's what 16 feels like... So far away. And here I am, on the last day as a 13 year old. My first year as an "official" teenager is now coming to an end. But yet somehow I feel as if though 14 makes me more of a teenager... Like I'm more, let's say, experienced? Ha! Maybe I'm wrong. - I'm a baby teenager... A young teen still trying to figure out life... A young teen still trying to find who she is in Christ. Yep, I'm a young, newby teen, and I just can't wait to see what God has for my life. I hope that I live out 14 to its fullest potential, and that I do g

Live for Something Eternal

Yo, yo, yo. What's up all my fellow readers? My life has been EXTREMELY crazy! But guess what? My softball team and I are district champions! Whoop whoop! We have Regionals this Thursday, so wish us luck! Today I really wanted to write about this verse. I feel like there's so much to talk about and take from it! For to me, to live is Christ  and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21  What does this verse mean to you? Well, let's dissect the first part: For to me, to live is Christ   For to me, to live is Christ. What does that mean? It means that while here on this earth our goal should be to live for Christ. In everything we do, live for Christ. That could be as simple as being a good example, showing Christ's love in school, being a friend to someone who has no friends. Could be as extreme as going to a foreign country and sharing the gospel with people who are anti-Christ. Our life here should have purpose.. A purpose for Christ. A purpose to make disciples.. Ea

My Journey with Anxiety (The Beginning of it and the Conquering)

Image
When I was young ( around 2nd grade ) I started having really bad anxiety. It really all started when I saw part of a murder mystery that was on television. There was a remake scene of someone's death. It scared me soooo much, then again, I was only in 2nd grade. I wasn't as exposed to those type things.  - Death wasn't something I thought about at such a young age until I watched that show. It opened my eyes a little ( a little to much that is ) to the world around me. There are bad people in the world and there is such a thing called death. Nobody can cheat it. We are all gonna die eventually unless Jesus comes down to take us to Heaven. That scared me. I hated the thought of losing my family, or dying of a disease, or just disease and sickness and harm attacking those I love.  - After watching that show, it was really the starting point of my anxiety. I worried about everything. I always thought I was dying or that I had a terrible, deadly sickness or somet
